Oh my, we made it a whole year. And survived! Look at us go.
What did you learn? Flash, humor, poetry, memoir, horror, submitting, starting your novel and more and more.
And what did we learn? People like skills. As in, people want to learn to write, right? Makes sense.
So here’s what we're re-thinking for 2025.
Instead of a genre focus, we're going to steal craft techniques from the folks who are best at what they do.
For example, we'll learn dialog from a screenplay writer, suspense from a true crime novelist, and the fine art of creating a perfect single sentence. We've got a whole catalog coming soon. Stay tuned.
We also learned that 8-12 lessons a month is A LOT. Maybe too many. So, we're making things more focused with one solid lesson per week. This leaves room for all sorts of fun stuff. Because let's face it, writing is never the whole story. To make it, you need collaboration, conversation, AND...everybody say it with me... NETWORKING! ugh.
But not from us. God no. We're too awkward to be in charge of that kind of thing.
Instead, we've invited Jo Gatford to come in and cultivate a community for our paid subscribers. Here's how she plans to do that:
Helloo Forever Workshop community!Â
I’m Jo — an editor, writer, creative writing tutor and mentor. I'm also part of The Forever Workshop community as both a student and a teacher :) My workshop series, Smash Your Flash: The Craft of Short (Short) Fiction was featured on TFW last year, and I have another course, Take It From Shakespeare, coming out this spring. And in between, I’ve been joining in with all the other wonderful workshops in this treasure trove of a writing resource, because I’m also still (always!) learning as a writer, and holy wow there’s a lot of good stuff here…Â
So I’m super excited to have been invited to come on board as The Forever Workshop’s community manager. I’ll be here in the workshops, in the chat, in the comments, and in the notes to help keep the conversation going and make sure the community is full of happy writers.Â
Think of me as your friendly resident editor. Feel free to ask me questions about the courses, about your writing, about finding writing buddies and beta readers; celebrate your wins, commiserate your rejections, scream into the void, and get excited about your WIPs — whatever you need to make your words work.Â
Looking forward to getting to know you all soon.Â
We're amped about all of this, and hope you are too. Yes, we're making more things paid. No, it won't be more expensive. Still $10 a month or $100 a year for everything.
And you know what? Why not take 25% off that now? A holiday present from us.
This gets you:
A year's worth of monthly workshops
Access to chats, events, collaborations, and more.
Access to our archive of 10+ workshops
Our eternal love and gratitude for helping us keep this going.
We have unlimited scholarships available for anyone that needs one. You can apply here and we’ll get you all set up within a couple of days.Â
Oh, and did we mention we've got a super cool page now for all of our workshops?
Alright, that's it. Thank you for being here - The Forever Workshop team
